Keep Calm and Wax On!

Updated: Oct 10, 2020

You probably remember the infamous seen of Steve Carell getting his chest waxed in Forty Year Old Virgin or maybe you've searched "My First Brazilian Wax" videos on YouTube. Either way I'm here to assure you - it's not that bad!

Let's face it, getting hair pulled from your body is not going to be completely painless, but there are some things you can do to make your experience as comfortable as possible.

  1. Schedule a free in-person consultation. I'll make sure all of your questions are answered, go over your history such as medications, skincare routine, allergies, your expectations, and pre and post wax care to ensure you wax is as smooth and painless as possible.

  2. Let your hair grow. I know you hate hair under your arms, but resist the urge to shave, it will be worth it in the end. Your hair needs to be at least 1/4 of and inch long, about as long as a grain of rice. If your having trouble letting your hair grow out, take advantage of sweater weather

  3. Book your appointment. Go for it and book that Brazilian wax! Your first appointment might seem scary but once you've done it you'll realize it gets easier every time.

  4. Relax. The worst part about getting waxed is the anxiety you feel. You want to come into your wax session relaxed, mentally and physically. The more tense you are the more uncomfortable the experience can be. But don't worry, I'll walk and talk you through the whole process. And the actual waxing takes no more than 15 minutes for a Brazilian and 30 minutes for larger body parts.

  5. Take skincare recommendations seriously! I don't just remind my clients to exfoliate and moisturize there skin for my benefit. Sure proper skin care on your part will make my job easier, as your hair will be removed with ease. But, exfoliating and moisturizing regularly will dramatically lessen your discomfort during the service, prevent ingrown hairs, and will provide you with smoother and longer lasting results.

  6. Rebook and be consistent. Waxing consistency is crucial. Coming in for your wax at the recommended time will help your hair to thin out, growing back sparser and finer in texture, and the hair root will be smaller and more superficial, which means it will be easier to remove and more comfortable for you. Keeping up on your waxing will also help keep ingrown hairs away!

I hope this was helpful to those of you who are nervous for your first wax and I look forward to seeing you soon.

Keep calm and wax on!
